This is the last of the AI music I made over the last few weeks. I made these with Suno, as the engine offered a few more features. Their website is a gacha game masquerading as music software. That sort of business model will never get a penny from me. It also was pretty heavy handed with the lyric moderation. Can't say I'm a fan.

Still, I wrote all of the lyrics to these and took the time to finish them, so I might as well share them. I had some fun making them, just feeling soured on the SaaS business paradigm a lot of these services cling to.

Zen Tormey Dark Ditties 01 I Dont Want to Pet Your Dog

When we first bought our house, we became aware that we were basically the only residents of our neighborhood who were not dog owners. The first of these dog owners I met was named, "Patty", and since I am terrible at names and faces, everyone with a dog who walked by became a "Patty" going forward. I know they aren't actually all named Patty, I just call them all Patty jokingly as a defense mechanism so I don't feel terrible for not being able to keep track of my neighbors' names, some of which I have had opportunity to learn for more than 15 years.

Anyways, that is a lot of words to say that this song isn't about a specific Patty, just Patty's in general. Also, I don't hate dogs, I just like to breathe.

I thought it would be fun to do a song about what would happen if Satan buried the hatchet with heaven, automated hell, and moved on to do other things.

What other things? Well, what else would a demon trapped in hell for centuries seek out?

Zen Tormey Dark Ditties 03 Evil Enough

I wrote this song in like 15 minutes. I wanted something that sounded similar to Axl Rose whining about not being evil enough for Satan to love him. I ended up somewhere in the neighborhood. The first version had a much better (worse) voice, but there were some issues I couldn't work around, so you get this one.

Okay, I will admit with this one I started with the hook and worked backwards. I wanted a dance number that featured the dark lord of hell. Maybe it is only because I have listened to this 50 times in a row while getting it done, but I feel like the music video for this one manifests in your mind while listening, and Big Mr. S looks FABULOUS.

Ok, this is literally just a word nerd having fun with a theme. This is probably my favorite of this batch.

Zen Tormey Dark Ditties 06 Can I help you Satan

I wrote this one to make Amy smile. It tells the story of a young imp and his quest to impress the boss. I was having fun with it until the Satan verse, when suddenly Suno decided it was the arbiter of what is appropriate or not in a verse where Satan curses... at an Imp... in Hell... in the end, I copied and pasted the verse into ChatGPT (who I assume is the content filter) and told it to write something that it itself wouldn't censor. That also took the rest of the wind out of my sails on this. I doubt I will put any more effort into writing music that the service just censors. (Looking over these songs, I clearly need a shorter leash on my lyrics, please).
